Psycho Games was supposed to be out today. I still had some editing to do but I thought I could do it over the long weekend and then my betas and editor promised to be quick. It was going to be close and maybe a day or two late, but I was going to make the end of month deadline.
And then I was laid out by the freakin’ flu.
I’ve never had the flu (that I can remember, I may have had one as a small child that just got put in with general kid’s sickness my parents didn’t distinguish) and I always thought people were exaggerating.
I’d watch TV shows where people had the flu and they weren’t all coughing and sneezing, just had a fever and were in bed, and I wouldn’t buy it. I mean, what illness just makes you really tired and maybe comes with a fever?
Never mind, I get it now. 🙂
I started coughing last Saturday and figured it was allergies. On Sunday when it got worse and brought along head and body aches, I figured something else was wrong. I went to the doctor on Monday, test came back flu, they gave me Tamiflu and ordered me to stay home, rest and drink lots of fluids.
I figured it’d be like a bad cold for a few days and I could just work from home, miserable sure, but working.
Cue the laugh track.
I was so wiped that just working at my computer in bed for a few hours had me completely wiped, like too tired to sit up.
I didn’t know any illness that wasn’t bad enough to put you in the hospital could wipe you out that badly.
Needless to say, the book got put on the back-burner.
I’m on the upswing now, I think, but it’s a seriously slow recovery. I’m up to sitting up in bed and getting up a few times to grab food and stuff, so I’m not completely useless, but still pretty exhausted and most of my energy has to go to the day job.
Hoping to be back to full power soon (I’ve been saying that for a week now though, so hey) and back on working on the book. Right now, I’m thinking it’ll probably be out in about two weeks.
Sorry for the delay if you’re waiting for the second book and I’m trying to get better fast, I swear 🙂
